Hi guys...
DISCLAIMER: I am a N33wB when it comes to Linux/antiX, I know very few commands, so bear with me
So im trying to install a VNC client on antiX so I can view my Linux machine on my Windows Machine...
So I tried both TightVNC and x11vnc and this is what happend...
First TightVNC:
1. I first used $ su to change to root, then I extracted file to the /usr/src/ directory
2. after it extracted i used #cd into the dir and used # xmkmf and it gave me 2 missing dir errors and some Implicit Declaration warnings and then said aborted
3. Then I did # make World and it said"*** No Rule to Make Target"World". Stop.
Now With x11vnc:
1. I first used $ su to change to root, then I extracted file to the /usr/src/ directory
2. after it extracted i used #cd into the dir and used #./configure and it said unable to write executables and told me to read the configure.log
3. so i did and this is what it said:
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
It was created by x11vnc configure 0.9.10, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.59. Invocation command line was
$ ./configure

Since those packages are found in the repositories, it might be easier to use Synaptic or apt-get (from terminal as root) to install them.
For synaptic, click on control center > system > Manage packages (at least on 8.2; may have changed for 8.5)
Hope this helps, good luck!

Thanks,
I tried what you said first by apt-get for the x11vnc and got the following errors
Errors were encountered while processing
wicd- daemon
wicd- gtk
wicd- curses
wicd
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
So I tried istalling tightVNC using synaptic and it gave me an error code very similar to that one, and I clicked the details option and found out that it was infact the same error...
Please help,
Thanks in advance

There's something wrong with the wicd packages. I get the errors too but it does not seem to make a difference. Is VNC working for you?

I got VNC installed but i do not know how to run it... Any help for me on that one?
Also I fixed the wicd problem
I made a user account named demo by using # adduser demo (while i was in root ofcourse)...
after I created the demo user account, I was able to install without a problem but I dont know how to run VNC

Sorry. I don't have any experience with vnc. I found this link though, and there were lots of others that might help

I used synaptic to install vnc4server on the server machine and xvnc4viewer on the other computer also using antix. This had worked for me in a local system, but i am not sure how to make it work over the internet yet. Any way after installing these on the computer that I had installed xvnc4viewer on I would type exactly that and then add a space and type the local IP address of the server. This then prompted me for a password that has been set up when installing vnc4server on the server. I entered that password and it had worked. I do not have much of a use for local vnc but it may help you. If you later figure out how to make it work over the internet I would like to know, until then I will keep seeing how to set it up, posting it here if I find out.

The vnc server must be already running on the box you want to connect to. The man page for vncserver is pretty good to help you set it up.
I use Gvncviewer to view. To start it I run:
gvncviewer server:1
This will connect to"server' and use X server"1" which is the second xserver running on the server. You will be asked for a password.
