Had a 32 bit Mepis 8 on this system, decided i should do an install of the RC-1 in this inexpensive system...
AMD's Sempron 140 Sargas 2.7GHz CPU
BIOSTAR MCP6P Motherboard <---Not happy with the motherboard damaged memory slot, will change out soon
2GB Ultra DDR2 6400 Memory
Radeon X1650 PRO
Maxtor 100GB 3Gb/s hard drive
Haven't stayed with any previous AntiX install always returned to Mepis, but not excited about KDE 4, so shall ask a lot of questions, to install my graphic software, need Pan and wine for a few Usenet utilities I use daily...
This AntiX installer stops long enough to say hello...

Welcome to antiX forums.
Just post away with any questions.
You should be able to install pan and wine through synaptic.

$ 33 USDlrs - AMD's Sempron 140 Sargas 2.7GHz CPU
$ 36 USDlrs - BIOSTAR MCP6P Motherboard - On-board Video (GeForce 6150)
$ 25 USDlrs - Recycled 2GB Ultra DDR2 6400 Memory
$ 30 USDlrs - Hatchi 250GB 3Gb/s recertified hard drive
$ 20 USDlrs - RaidMax 380 Power Supply
$144 Total USDlrs for a decent newly assembled system, placed in a recycled Computer Case and it is humming along, as if it loves me...
I managed to install Gimp and I can start it by typing Gimp in a terminal... But am lost on how to access my Mepis system, is there a Samba share I must set up?
Have typed Samba in a terminal, without any working results? Another method to access my 3TB hard drives, I wanted to enjoy a movie this evening in AntiX?
Screen capture? I do not seem to have any programs listed under the Menu> Applications. Is this a RC-1 anomaly, or a bad install I can correct?

64-bit version of Mepis 8, and a very quick AntiX RC-1
I am back after selling the old system and building another one with a bit more hard drive storage...anticapitalista wrote:Welcome to antiX forums.

Hello Namida:
Welcome to Antix! I have GIMP and PAN installed and both work fine in Antix. If you get tired of calling them up from a terminal, you can always edit the fluxbox or icewm menus so that they are available. This can be done from Control Center. I 'm running 8.2 so my CC will likely be different from RC1, but there should be an Edit Fluxbox Settings or Edit ICE-wm settings in there where you can access and modify the menus.
I'm afraid I don't know what Mepis system is, since I've never used Mepis. Is that some sort of file manager? If so, you can use Rox or pcmanfm.
As far as the screenshot, I'm not sure if it's included in RC1, but in my system it's part of the fluxbox menu: antixscreenshot.sh
For watching movies, mplayer or gxine (not sure if it's included in RC1).
I hope this help somewhat.
Regards,
Pedro
