if I using the MC in the terminal as a normal user, everything looks normal

But if I start su in the terminal and then start MC, then it looks strange:

How can I change the curios chars to the right"line-chars"???
But over all, the public Beta works very fine on my old system and the icewm is VERY comfortable to use. If I would have the know how, I would remove horrible KDE and switch the interface of sidux to the icewm-style like antiX at once.

You have to set up the locale.
I find using the rox terminal works better with mc (though it is a bit heavier than urxvt).
Open roxterm, su to root, click Preferences->UTF-8, type mc in terminal.
You may need to use a different preference than UTF-8
