Hi,

Is there a way to upgrade from antix 7.5 to latest with updates (think its 8 version, (stable/rc/alpha?))...

this might sound noob but i like to be up to date..

and to mention also i cannot reinstall new version since i setup this one for more than a week to match my packages/preferences...

thanks in advance...

You can upgrade the apps by using apt-get or synaptic (or smxi script).
I would do this regularly to save on huge downloads and also as there is less chance of upgrades breaking.

You should also change the /etc/apt/sources to include this line:

#Mepis8
deb
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"ftp://ftp.mepis.com/mepis/"
linktext was:"ftp://ftp.mepis.com/mepis/"
====================================
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false mepis-8.0 main

If you wish, you can upgrade the kernel. To get the latest MEPIS kernel see this post.

========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"antix.freeforu ms.org/kernel-2-6-22-t1304.html"
linktext was:"antix.freeforu ms.org/kernel-2-6-22-t1304.html"
====================================
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false

sidux and Debian kernels work in antiX too. Best to use the smxi script.

When antiX-M8 goes final I'll provide a script for upgrading antiX-M7.5 to antiX-M8.
