Hi,
Trying to boot the new ISO antiX_test2.iso, but cannot get any further than the ISOLINUX line. This is an older Laptop a Dell Inspiron with PIII-600MHz 256MB RAM. I have tried burning another CD but result is the same. ISO MD5 checks out, so am at a loss here.
Is there a chance that the new ISOLINUX has stopped supporting older hardware? Also, if you can, please provide any ideas on how to get this Laptop going with these newer Linux'es. I had AntiX from 2010 working properly on this Laptop before and wiped that out to get the newer version.
Thank you.

Did you try all the boot options?
I am thinking the low ram-vesa boot option would be the best bet.
I had an old Dell inspiron with nVidia video and had to do a couple things to get it to boot antiX or Mepis 8.
In the laptop's bios, there is a setting to increase video ram from 1MB to 10MB.
You need to enable this increase in video ram if it's available in your bios settings.
Then, I always had to boot using the vesa driver into a 640x480 resolution..
Once you are able to get antiX to boot up, you can install the proprietary nVidia driver using the smxi or sgfxi scripts. This lets you set your video resolution properly.

Hi afab4,
Thank you for your reply and trying to help.
In the BIOS options on this (very Old) Laptop, there isn't a place to modify values for Video, etc. So, unfortunately, this aspect can't be changed.
Booting with this new CD can't get past the very very initial boot line/statement after the BIOS that goes something like"ISOLINUX version...by Author.." and that's where it remains stuck and hangs. No GRUB/LILO boot menu is displayed nor does any further activity take place. With an earlier version of AntiX(2010), this Laptop worked quite okay with good boot-up then install and then regular usage.
Wonder if the newer ISOLINUX version has stoped supporting older archictectures.
Thanks.

Try pressing some keys at that point.
