Just to let you know that antiX is still alive and kicking (despite the heat).
Let me know what you think about what follows.

Next version of antiX-full will be a bigger .iso download as it includes all the doc files (as requested) and also language support in live mode for Chinese and Japenese. (I had to install the necessary fonts). This makes the antiX-full iso around 565MB, and if I include Korean language support, we are close to 600MB. antiX supports in live mode (and it is transferred to install) 35 languages - meaning that the customised fluxbox and icewm menus supports 35 languages. Around 10 of them are completely translated for all antiX tools,. More work is needed on this.

antiX is still too"Eurocentric' language-wise IMO. Of the 35 languages available, 31 are European.

Non-European languages so far included in antiX - Arabic, Chinese(Simplified), Japenese, Brazilian-Portuguese

Let's play!

You are a bad dude Anti (I mean that in a good way). Instead of concentrating on eye candy and bling. You cut right into the essence of a operating system. How can I make this easier to deal with on a larger scale.

I try and convince clue less westerners who are kinda spoiled IMO. (Me being a westerner I can say this). Because I have to argue about. Where is KDE? Edit a Text File."That is so 1800s. This is the 21st century" Blah Blah Blah baw hooo.

I am all for the

Being a lets splash everyone by jumping in the mud puddle type of dude.

Will be totally useless translating other than Bubba Redneck Lingo though.

Happy trails, Rok

Edit: Sure am afeared of Grub2 though. __{{emoticon}}__

Here are my 2 cents:
I think it is a good idea to include more languages. In my experience new users want to install in their native language; so for a broader user base, more languages would be helpful. The only thing i would suggest is to keep the size of the iso fittable on a CD. I would fear that if the size exceeds 650-700MB, the general size of antiX would grow and grow.

I really appreciate the sensitivity to languages. That problem extends to my own family and I do not think we are all that unusual.

I certainly understand the problem of a growing .iso file. Rather than compress to the point of risking a greater frequency of bad burns, is there merit to an add-on language pack, or perhaps to"Eurocentric" and"Non-European" iso files? Given the use of English as an international language perhaps that language might be common to both iso's. The difference might lie in the menu of other available languages when the appropriate function key is pressed when the live cd is booted?

My idea might not be good, so I'll just applaud the fact that the problem is seen. Somebody else will have a better idea!

oops wrong forum. Misled about the Swift thing there.

Opinions? I wish antiX would save on NTFS on same partition in the way Puppy are able to.
In a loop-mounted file using ext2 named antiXsave.sfs or something. Is that hard to do?

I have no idea but it is very practical unless one need very big such files.

One can also do like Puppy mounting and loading sfs from the HDD and that way they don''t need to be part of any save file.
