First of all: Thanks for the great work, anticapitalista (and probably Warren and all the others in the team)! I just messed up some other system so I thought I might give antiX a try - and I was very surprised to find my Athlon powersafe mode to work right out of the box. I am extremely thankful for that, because my machine used to annoy me with a lot of noise. It is quite silent now. __{{emoticon}}__
Unfortunately, there are two difficulties I encountered so far:
1. My mouse doesn't work. It didn't with the default xconfig settings (PS2 & Synaptic) and doesn't with my new setting (USB). It doesn't after rebooting.
2. My external hard disk doesn't show up (not at /mnt, neither at /media).
Hm - I guess you might need some more information to help me with those two issues ... __{{emoticon}}__ . I will be glad to provide it. Any help appreciated.

You could try to plug your hd in after you boot; mine appears in /media that way.mariam wrote: 2. My external hard disk doesn't show up (not at /mnt, neither at /media).

While plugging in after booting still doesn't work with the HD, at least it helped to get the mouse going. Since both are USB, I guess I will have to concentrate on how USB auto detection while booting works (udev?). Thanks a lot for setting me on the right track.

Welcome to antiX, mariam.
Boot with the usb external hard drive plugged in and on, and then find out how antiX sees it.
Do this either as root in a terminal
#lsusb
or open gparted and see what it gives.
You can then edit the /etc/fstab file to add the correct mount point (if it hasn't automatically been done so)

Edit My fault - I had forgot to create a mountpoint __{{emoticon}}__ So, everything is fine now with the hard disk. __{{emoticon}}__
Still, there is this mouse issue ... The USB mouse only works when plugged out and again in. I would be grateful for any suggestion.

When connecting my usb hub (before booting), it doesn't work until I unplug and replug the mouse. When I try to mount the external hard disk then, a message reads that only root can do that.

The usb disk problem is to do with permissions.
What does /etc/fstab show?
Also where does antiX see the usb drive?
