The 27-year old Texan, Timothy Andrew Norris, arrived in person at the Wichita County Courthouse to pay his $600 property tax with individual dollar bills – only there was a twist. Or, er, a fold. Norris had allegedly folded each bill so tightly that it “required tax office personnel approximately six minutes to unfold each bill.”

@D.O. -- That was my 1st thought too.

But when you think about it, the county is wrong for doing that. He was brought legal tender to pay his taxes, and they are causing the problem. I smell a great lawsuit!!

Locally, the city police want you to pay your fines with the largest acceptable tender. Go try to pay a $225.00 ticket with two $100 bills, a $20 bill, and a $5 bill. They refuse to accept the hundreds because they could be counterfeit. Then they will mark all the twenties to make sure they aren't either. The City Council finally allowed them to accept Credit / Debit Cards to pay the tickets. The collection agencies are having a time collecting.

LOL , in Missouri I decided to pay a"traffic fine" that was levied in the MIDDLE of a small town, wherein the officer said that I had reached 70 mph after crossing a road from a standing stop at a stop sign......

IN PENNIES.........lol........

The"officiating woman" refused to take them.........the"judge" came out of his office, behind her, and said,"The man is paying his fine with legal tender". And then turned to me and said something like..."will you sign an affidavit that the number of pennies is correct"....or something like that....

To which I averred in the positive..

And he turned to the woman and said something,in a harsh voice,"take the man's money" and stomped back into his office....

The whole"traffic fine to make money" thing......lol
