Is this normal? The CD seems to be integral, and the OS seems to work fine, so I just wanted to check if others here have had to restart their pc manually after installation..

Any feedback greatly appreciated!

Moved to"Other distros"

SwiftLinux is based off antiX, but is a separate independant project. You might be better off posting on the swiftlinux forum.

It is not 'normal' for a distro to just stop after install, but that may be down to a bad sector on the hard drive or just a glitch.

Hi anticapitalista,
They don't have a"standard" forum (except for Facebook and LinkedIn), but they link to this forum.

The strange thing is, this distro installation always stops at the end, and I have to manually shutdown the pc, take the CD out manually, and reboot.

The distro seems to work fine, but I'm wondering if it's my CD, or if they forgot something in making the distro..?

And have swiftlinuxcreator look at this thread. IF ME.

I would download AntiX 11 Full iso. Check md5sum of iso after download. Run a experimental install. That would tell me if CD or distro related problem. Also. Did you md5sum your swift linux downloaded iso before burning.

Also. I would add the acpi=force to end of kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst like so (just a example from my kernel line in grub)

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.34-stevo root=UUID=33d2cb14-08cc-4db8-80c6-771828e68200 ro acpi=force

The acpi=force option is required on some older hardware laptops that won't shut all the way down on shutdown, and make you use the power button to shut all the way down.

Hi Rok,
Thanks for your post.
I did check the md5sum and it was correct. I just installed Bodhi Linux on the pc where I had Swift Linux, and everything went smoothly.
So now, I'd like to install AntiX on this laptop, but I am not sure which one to install from the Wiki: i486 or i686. There is also"core" and"base" installs. Which one should I install?

have you tried just hitting enter or some other key. IIRC, the antix livecd stops and asks you to remove the cd and then press a key to finish shutdown.

Also for finding your what antix to install, we will need to know what you are running for computer specs for answering the 486 - 686 iso's. What cpu are you running, etc...? You probably would like to go with the full version, so base and core are out of the question.

Hi Dave,
I did the uname -a command and found out that it's a 32-bit, and listed i686 and i586, so I downloaded the i686 version (not base or core).

Tonight I think I'll install it... should be fun! __{{emoticon}}__ I'm excited to try"standard" antiX!

Thanks.
