Experiment time. Gonna see if this works or not. I downloaded and installed with Unetbootin on a 2 gig sandisk
cruzer usb stick

Code: Select all

The idea here. I have Beta1 base installed. All stuff I wanted to keep, Fluxbox themes, music, movies, notes on command strings, custom scripts I use like conky, wallpapers. All just got copied to a 4 gig sandisk cruzer pendrive.

Antix 13 beta 2 Full iso is going on here next. This M&A companion netbook has a 64 gig ssd drive and I am
usually conservative and only format as ext2 file system for root and /home.

Code: Select all

/dev/sda1: UUID="19329640-68e2-4120-806c-e3f2f6877612" TYPE="ext2"
/dev/sda2: LABEL="/home" UUID="09265858-962d-4694-8f5b-c6ddf2e961b4" TYPE="ext2"
/dev/sdb1: UUID="0E1C-E985" TYPE="vfat"

But , I paln on using JFS for / and F2FS for /home for the Antix Beta 2 Full Iso install. I'd use F2FS for / if
I could but I read that Linux images and kernels etc can't boot on F2FS YET.
Here is a screenshot of partedmagic (latest beta) options for formating

So, what do you think of my plan? F2FS should be OK I think for /home since it is safe for data.

Hmmm. This might not work out. Not with the default AntiX kernel maybe. Kinda afeared now. Might just go with what I know (ext2).

__{{emoticon}}__ Yeah, a man after my own heart. Nothing to lose (I hope) but time.

Edit: But it won't let me label it as /home RC. Label is greyed out on right click. JFS labeled OK as / and flagged as boot. Might just start over and make the whole drive JFS. Sigh.

Code: Select all

root@partedmagic:~# whereis f2fs-tools
f2fs-tools:
