hello i am new here!!
i have been in a quest to revive my old computer (dell optiplex gx260) for this 2 weeks.
and i found antix-m11 i686 most suitable for my system, after some trial an error(antix 13 not as good as the one i have installed)

but now i want to update the packages to get new software
i have not done any updates so far.

uname -a shows:
Linux antiX1 2.6.36-1-mepis-smp #1 SMP Thu Mar 31 17:07:18 CDT 2011 i686 GNU/Linux

so any recommendations of source to avoid any package conflict in the system since the update server shows error 404 of antix and liquorix or key not correct by debian server __{{emoticon}}__

i would like to mantain using antix for this current system

I'm afraid you may be at end-of-life for that version. antix-M11 was based on debian testing/squeeze I believe, which later became debian 6 and is currently supported with security updates, at least for a while, as debian oldstable.

you can try changing your sources list to point to"oldstable" . They should look something like this.

I make no guarantee that any of this will work, but they are still releasing security updates as of October, and the oldstable repos are live.

more info here. Note that the antix repos are relatively new and not appropriate for M11.

I just upgraded a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo laptop last week.
(tried to install Antix-13, CD-drive out of service, could not boot from USB stick, and weird bugs when trying to boot from external CD Drive, that's another story...)

So I upgraded from antiX-11 squeeze to wheezy following the links on the debian page

Since my sources.list contained references to testing repositories at the time of antiX-11, I first did a apt-get update to oldstable as D.O. pointed, in order to have an oldstable up-to-date install.

Then I changed the repositories to wheezy in sources.list.
and did a apt-get dist-upgrade
Expect a couple of hours for the process to complete. Leave the default option (something like: keep your old configurations files) when you are prompted

Keep a backup of your old sources.list, that you will compare with the sources.list you may build with:

The process will not upgrade the antiX tools, menus, nor update the selection of programs in antiX.
You can search the posts on the forum to add links to antiX repos.

The dist-update went smoothly for me (not really used it, though)

Better backup your system if you can prior to doing the dist-upgrade. Just post the issues you encounter and the great antixers can help you get thru fixing the errors you encounter.

is chugging along quite nicely. But. The difference between me and you? This is when 11 was in version testing version 3 and not even final yet. I have just been keeping it current since then.

So it should be doable for you also. With a bit of luck and the gods smiling on you. Me. I am a shoot from the hip loosey goosey AntiX user with no care in the world if it breaks or not.
