I just installed antix for the first time(8.2). I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 with integrated Intel sound. The Control Center detects and installs the proper Intel sound driver but still there is no sound. Any suggestions?
Sound works with Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Crunch Bang, and Zenwalk.

That was what I couldn't remember, so I had to reboot to find it.

Yes, I've tried that already. I might have to do something at the command line. Any suggestions?

And you say you already configured sound card through control panel and when it asked to overwrite sound file , did you say yes? Cause if you said no, then you didn't configure sound card.

I said yes to overwrite sound file. It detected Card(HDA Intel) and Chip(ALC 861-VD). I'll try a few more things before I go back to Crunch Bang Linux.

Or you could do what I do-I have 4 distros on my computer-one (Ubuntu) stable and 3 I try out-antiX being one of them. I liked it enough to install it on my laptop as well.

A couple of things to try.
1. run alsaconfig.
control center > hardware > configure sound system
2. run alsamixer (turn up volume and unmute options)
control center > hardware > adjust mixer settings
john

I'm going to give up on antiX for now. Youtube sucks without sound. Hopefully the next version will solve the sound problem on my machine.
For now I'll try out the new PCLinuxOS 2009 LXDE version. It looks promising.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
