After I insert a CD, I bring up XMMS and click play and get about 1 sec or less of sound that keeps repeating. I also don't think the CD is spinning. If I stop, quit and restart XMMS sometimes it comes up and does the same thing, sometimes it won't come back up unless I reboot.
thanks.

Try using Gxine. Select cd from the menu. This will determine if it's a drive or some other issue.

Thanks for the responses. This problem was fixed (along with my other synaptic manager problem) when I did an Antix reinstall.

Have you set up your sound card?
You may need to comment out the first line in /etc/modprobe.d/snd-hda-intel
and then run alsaconf
Depends on your card.
If you have inxi installed
#inxi -U
$inxi -F
edit: I think this was the fix for those that might need it.

Thanks Anti:
We already fixed this with your help.
Maybe we can have a tag [Problem solved] on some such thing?
Best
Pedro
