I some how am not able to access my spare drive. None of the software is able to see it. I did notice as the machine is booting up i saw a massage"sdb1 quiet". No problems with the usb's. Just the spare drive. Even under 'root" I can't get any software to see it. When I try to mount it I get the message"mount: special device UUID=ac009784-4fde-476c-b63f-05995a0c4e69 does not exist Mount failed

Can you give us some more information?
What is the make/model of your computer or motherboard?
How is the spare drive attached? Via STATA? Via PATA/IDE?
I'd like to see the output of"dmesg" and"lscpi -v". Also"sudo blkid" Best to post them at

url was:"http://pastebin.com/"

and just give us a URL here.
What command did you use to mount it? From the error message I would guess that you have an entry for it in your fstab file.
Does it show up in"ls /dev/sd*" or"ls -l /dev/disk/by-*" ?
If the device node /dev/sdb1 (or whatever) does not show up then that is usually either a hardware problem or a missing driver to talk to the hardware.
When did it stop working? Did you make any changes to the system between when it was working and when it stopped working?

Hi BitJam. The drive is an ide"old Maxtor". I finaly got it to work. I don't know what I done, but I'd done it. It shows up as" sb1-ata-Maxtor-4R080L-R" instead of just"sdb1". I had used the drive as as a test bed for trying the different Linux until I settled on Antix. Nice distro. I'm going to stick with it.Forgot to mention. I installed a disk manager which helped to straighting things out.
I appretiate you tring to help me out BitJam. Thanks
