in the latest slim update, either before or after log-in, slim reloads for no reason, exiting the window manager (fluxbox, in my case) as a result losing everything in that session. from what i have seen in the error, it tries to hot plug in the display again, but i can't be sure of this because the error is cryptic. for the time being i solved the issue by activating the testing repos and downgraded to that version, then i put slim on hold. for the moment it stopped acting up, i will post an update if i find a solution or if another version is loaded in sid.

the latest update fixed the error that caused slim to reload in a loop. here is the changelog:
Code: Select all
slim (1.3.6-5.1) unstable; urgency=medium
* Non-maintainer upload.
* slim.service: Drop BusName=, fixing endless (re-)start loop under systemd.
Thanks Aggelos Avgerinos <evaggelos.avgerinos@gmail.com> for testing.
(Closes: #861474)
* slim.service: Drop Conflicts=plymouth-quit.service and
OnFailure=plymouth-quit.service, as slim does not stop plymouth by itself.
Retain After=plymouth-quit.service for correct ordering though, which
should be sufficient to solve #860465.
