[solved] Problems using AntiX 15-beta, please help.

Greetings to everyone. I have come across AntiX again, after I tested it some 5 years ago and found to be progressing. So cheers anti.

However I am having some problems. May be silly of me but I am not aware to fix them. Maybe someone has the patience of explaining.

1 - [solved, but a little buggy] I am a laptop user hp compaq nc6120 and need a battery applet to set up energy saving. In Mate desktop it worked the best, I have installed mate-power-manager but i want it to start at start-up and to stay in the toolbar. It only appears next to the date, on the panel after I execute it from terminal. Dont know where to edit and how.

2 - move to separate thread

3 - [solved but not a good idea] any chance to use mate-toolbar instead of current icewm?

4 - [solved] I think I have enabled multimedia deb from debian list by removing the # from the begining of the line. This is how you do it, right?

5 - [solved, intel driver] there is a small lag in video, mouse freezes a bit and when scrolling pages I see like a horizontal wave on the page. I have intel grpahics, any idea how to solve it?

6 - [solved] My content from aplication has disappeared after installing hexchat, could someone paste the content of aplication menu so I can copy and paste it into icewm config? Also window decoration minimize/maximaize/close, dissapear from top right, and a black color appears instead.

1. You can install the mate-panel. Its in the default repos. You will want to install mate-panel and mate-power-manager, as the power-manager brings the brightness plugin.

2. not sure on this one...

3. you can disable the icewem toolbar by opening Control Centre>Edit Icewm Settings, go to the"preferences" file tab and edit"ShowTaskBar=1" to"ShowTaskBar=0" and restart icewm. The mate-panel can be run with"mate-panel" from the run box on the menu. You can add that to your default startup if you find that you like it. mate-power-manager is run by"mate-power-manager" and will show up in the mate system area. Don't worry, the icewm menu is still accesible via a right-click on the desktop.

I would not leave deb-multimedia enabled all the time. You will break something, almost guaranteed. When I use that repo, I install the app then disable the repo. Its too dangerous to leave it enable as you can break your system during an upgrade.

thanks a lot, I really apreciate it. However I would like to run mate-power and even mate panel from start up but dont know how to formulate the code. I know where to insert but... From what I understand, you say to run it from menu > run ? everytime?

I have edited the taskbar and added the power-manager next to red exit icon, seems to work, but when I click on reduce brightness, there is no action, in other words, though it loads in the taskbar I can only reduce light when on ac power, nothing happens on removing the plug and only on battery. It checks and unchecks the box but no action... It think there must be another lib, probabily related to the multimedia keyboards...

thanks, it worked, it starts from the begining, however still not able to use multimedia keys and when checking the box to reduce brightness in mate-power-manager, nothing happens on battery mode, I can only reduce it when on plugged.

so i am left with 2 issues, nr 2 and 6.

no, I havent missed anything, I have installed hexchat and after install start up menu went bazookas.

and also it deleted some icons I have placed in the taskbar

also, Anti, if you are still following this topic, maybe you could help with probelm nr 2, fn keys and multimedia keys. I am on a hp nc6120

and here, with 15 beta, network icon does not always stay on the taskbar. And does not reconect all the time, maybe a fix for 15 stable?
