I have installed Antix m11 and read how to install a printer by going to applications, accessories, metapackage-installer, office, hp printing and install. What do I do from there? I don't know enough about cups to know what to do. I have my printer turned on but it wasn't found.
Thanks,
Harold

Are you using it on a network or through the usb cable?

It is on a usb cable only to one computer. I have two computers but they are not networked. The pc that I installed Antix m11 on is multi-booted with Windows XP and several Linux distros on two hard drives. So since they aren't networked, each distro has to find my printer. Networking is something that I have not delved into. I don't feel that I need a network bad enough to try and learn how to do it.

houndhen,
there is an option found in the control center to install and configure a printer, though for me it only seems to let me install 1 printer.
I have a similar printer to what you have at my house, how I installed the printer is by first installing hplip, seems to me that you found that. Next I went to my web browser and typed localhost:631 to get to the cups configuration web page. Then under 'CUPS for Administrators' I clicked ' adding printers and classes'. On that page I clicked on 'Add Printer' , it searched for a bit and under the 'local printers' section it showed the printer. I clicked on that and the rest was simply answer the questions it asked, set the driver to hplip (printer-model), and followed the rest of the questions it asked. To verify that it was working ( after clicking the link that said the printer was installed successfully ) I went to the maintenance drop down box and selected ' print test page'
if it printed then all is good otherwise you may need to change the default settings.
