So, I am having issues again __{{emoticon}}__
I am trying to test the new antix, and I am missing something, somewhere...
I have downloaded the base iso, and have tried with full too, but base is what I want, for now.
I have used unetbootin, and it seems to kinda want to work, but it can not find the antix-live somethingsomething, then I am asked to power off, or reboot.
I have tried antix2usb, and I get a grub screen, and I have no idea what I have to do there, so I am a bit lost.
I have read a lot of stuff on the forum, and have seen the dd method mentioned (which I have no idea what is)
so, I can not dd, as I don't know what it is, or how...
Anyway, I saw some post saying I need the usb to be named /sda, and not /sda1, as mine is...
Maybe that is that why it can't find the files it wants?
I can not figure out how to rename my stick either... it just wants to be sda1 __{{emoticon}}__
Soooo, is there anyone out there that has any ideas? I would be very grateful for any help on this, as I like messing with this stuff, but am still not good enough at this to work things out on my own.

Try with unetbootin again and this time when you boot, hit TAB at /boot/menu screen and remove the blab=antiXlive part.

Greetings rust collector,
I agree with you antix is very nice.
I don't know what system you have antiX running on ...
I've placed it on two older boxes and a laptop and they've
really come to life.
Enjoy antiX ...

My system is an old acer aspire one netbook. the one with the 8.9" screen.
I have added a g of ram(up to 1.5) and the ssd has been changed from the very slow 8 g one, to a...less slow 16g. The atom processor.... I think it is not very powerful, but it works ok...
It can handle win xp quite well, so it is not horribly underpowered, imo.
I have tried antix on my old box too, but it has issues.
The 3 other laptops in the house works just fine, but I have not dared to install on the wifes dual core blablahblah somethingsomething, but it works very well from an usb stick...

rust collector,
Is your aspire one, one of the originals that could come with linpus linux lite on it or windows xp?

When I bought it, it was just released, and I could only get it in white, as the blue one I wanted had not come to Norway yet. I could choose between this, and the asus ee-something.
I am quite happy with this one, as it has been up to anything I have wanted it to do, so far.
Anyway, when I got it,the guy behind the counter printed off a few pages of stuff, like how to get the regular desktop, and how to install stuff, and so on.
I should find that guy, and 1. kick his ass, for making me interested, and using tons of time on a computer.
2. get him dinner and drinks, for making me interested, and using tons of time on a computer.
I have not decided if I am going for #1, or #2 yet...

Why not do a mix of both __{{emoticon}}__
Not really so much of a need, more a want. I have one of the first models of the acer aspire ones' that the ssd has died. I cannot for the life of me find where to buy those proprietary ssd's that they came with. The only way I have right now is to run the laptop off of a usb stick that I made with antix 2 usb (of course this is better than throwing it out). When I noticed you have saidrust collector wrote:It is the linpus lite version, I still have the linpus cd somewhere

I thought I would see if it was an aspire one like I have and then ask where you found the hard drive.rust collector wrote: ssd has been changed from the very slow 8 g one, to a...less slow 16g.

I will see if I can find a supplier for you, and if they are no longer made, you can have my old one, if you want it?
I did buy it somewhere in Ireland...
I will have a look, and get back to you.
Btw, they are not really proprietary, as such, but yes, they kinda are anyway __{{emoticon}}__

This is the"same" as I use:
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Super-Talent-16GB-16G-MLC-SSD-Acer-Aspire-One-/200490916377?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item2eae309a19"
linktext was:"http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Super-Talen ... 2eae309a19"
====================================
They are also availible as 32 and 64gig, btw.
It is a straight swap, no issues at all.
Oh, are you sure the cable is properly connected on both ends?
Let me know if you want my old one, but shipping would probably be more than buying a new"better" one...

Oh, btw... I have been thinking of soldering in a pair of usb connectors to the unused usb's these machines have.
Then mount the connectors under the unused (in this application) cover on the bottom.
Then use a pair of physically small usb sticks to store my crap, and not use all of my external usb's just to store stuff.
That might be a way for you to cheat, if you want to get your stick inside... and you are comfortable with soldering stuff on your main board...

yeah, I will try anything.
if it is not to much trouble can I ask you to snap a couple of pictures when you place the USB sticks in your computer?
The connector was in place from factory, it simply became so slow after a couple of months that it would no longer boot.
I will look around again, Thanks for the info

If/when I get to it, I will get some pics.
My old ssd is the not super-horrible one, just the average-horrible... if you want it, it is yours.
Have you been to aspire one users forum? there is a lot of info there.

no I had no idea about the forum. I simply had the hard drive fail, looked for a new one and did not find one. So I made a live USB with antix to USB and left it at that. __{{emoticon}}__
several people are running the same setup now thanks to antiX, I am sure they would be very happy if they could have another harddrive with more storage.
