I created 3 icons for the desktop. When I restart the machine they are gone. But if I restart Idesk Icons from the menu they reappear. I need them permanently there for my parents.
By the way, this system is a hard-drive installation.

As a suggestion, you might also consider installing xfce or lxde as desktop environments. Either one of these two will be easier to set up icons, and offer a more friendly alternative than fluxbox or icewm.

You could also use pcmanfm to manage the desktop icons and wallpaper. And it's already included with the distro.
