I have a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop with 1.5 GB RAM, 1.8 GHz Processor and running antiX 16.2.
When I run Firefox, the fan runs continously and sometimes the CPU gets stuck at 100%.
On my Dell Latitude D600 laptop with only 1 GB RAM and 1.5 GHz processor running antiX 16.2, the fan never comes on.
Is there any speculation as to what may be going on with the Compaq?
Is there anything that I could do to fix this?
Thanks for the help.

Maybe it needs a clean out, dust gets in & makes it difficult for the fan to keep the processor cool when it has to work hard, like when using modern day web browsers. Try putting the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner near to where the fan blows out. __{{emoticon}}__
Edit: Another possibility is that the heat paste isn't working between the processor & its cooling system. That would mean stripping down & re applying.

I uses a vacuum on the fan vent. Now, the fan doesn't come on as often and when it does, it is at a lower speed.
Thanks for the help.

I had to give up smoking because it was choking my computers. Too much dust and smudge inside the fans.
