Hey All,
Installed"antiX-16 Berta Cáceres" (Stretch) and noticed when I try and bring up the Control Centre from the menu nothing happens.
Synaptic Package Manager shows it to be installed but no go.
Is there an easy fix or is it something that will come with the final release of Stretch.
Thanks
The PoorGuy

FWIW, I'm not aware of any"known issues"
but, then again, I didn't realize"antiX-16 Berta Cáceres" (Stretch)" was a thing.
(izzit antiX16 and a typo in your post, or izzit antiX17-a3 and the detail of changing the release name was overlooked?)
In your fresh install, if you have edited the default menu, possibly the launchstring for the"Update Menus" command got mangled.
You can test by calling the operation from a terminal commandline: antixcc.sh
If this works, the content of the (~/.JWM/menu (or iceWM or fluxbox) menu file is suspect.
In your fresh install, were any of the"desktop-defaults*" and"antix*" packages marked as upgradable?
If so, have you yet upgraded those available packages?
If not, perform the package(s) upgrades, then retest to check whether the problem is resolved

...or, when you installed, you chose"testing" repositories (so the version string is"valid", but is unfamiliar to me)

I did see that in the link you sent however uncertain as to how to go about it.
Last time I tried to edit lines as such I wound up breaking my distro and had to re install from scratch.

If need be I can wait as my install is working great.
I have been able to install what I have needed via Meta Package Manager and Synaptic Package Manager.

This workaround I have already carried out on 2017-04-02 and today again.
The control-center-antix remains disappeared.
If you re-enable the repos of jessie and install the version 0.4.22, then that works. __{{emoticon}}__

I just tested this by installing antiX-16.1, choosing testing repo and doing an apt-get dist-upgrade.
I then chose the new antiX repos (stretch ones), distupgrded again and then installed codecs-antix, flash-antix and broadcom-manager-antix. Control centre now opens.

Hey anticapitalista,
I guess I'm not entering these commands properly.
I copy and paste into terminal.
I get the message command not found.
I guess I don't understand the how to or the way to enter what needs to be entered to get things to work. __{{emoticon}}__
Hopefully the Control Centre will come as an update if and when it does on the final release. __{{emoticon}}__
I'm going to continue to use mine as is until then.
I appreciate all of the help. __{{emoticon}}__
Thanks
The PoorGuy

A new version that should bring in missing dependencies, should be in the repos very soon .

I can wait as I mentioned earlier my antix distro is working great.
Yes it is missing some conveniences although I can wait until these are packaged and ready for shipping.
I appreciate all of the help and patience as I know I'm a PITA.
Thanks

hello poorguy with sigh
similarity; machine here antix16 on stretch repositories:
as soon as was seen during upgrade a message"antix=control=centre held back" I thought of Your post. Machine here is repaired, with ControlCentre invoking properly, so it does not leave any room for experimenting with various methods; I can merely relay the process undertaken that returned the Control Centre to visible working condition on one machine here:
[Control Centre was working from menu]
open terminal
[got the message that package antix-control-center held back; all other upgrades succeeded. tried to open ControlCentre but it did not appear]
exit=shutdown and power on
[attempt to open ControlCentre but it did not appear]
open root terminal
[one package antix-control-center installed successfuly. attempt to open ControlCentre and it appeared normally]
exit=shutdown and power on
ControlCentre and all working as usual. another apt update returned All packages are up to date.
We hope that Today it is easy for You like it was for here,, just another upgrade. Thank You for posting because it put us on the aware for this possibility of disappearing Control Centre. all is well. sigh.
