Hi all,

I finally got antiX installed off a USB using the Command Line Installer. __{{emoticon}}__

I did NOT add a user __{{emoticon}}__ , instead repeatedly entering:

Code: Select all

username: root
password: root
(yeah, I know. n00b... __{{emoticon}}__ )

Obviously I rebooted after install, and am now stuck at the Login GUI.

How do I get in? Or can I switch to commandline and add a user?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! __{{emoticon}}__

You can add a new user with the adduser command,

The next thing you need to do is make a home directory for them. This will normally just involve running:

Code: Select all

mkdir /home/wizardno7
chown wizardno7:users /home/jwizardno7

You will also need to copy over the contents of etc/skel (including the hidden files)
It might be just as easy/quick to re-install, this time creating a user account other than root.

Hi Alanarchy,

Thanx, but I can't log in?

I am stuck at a screen that in the top left show a globe with antiX underneath, and a grey box at the bottom stating:

(Press F1 to toggle sessions)
Login:

From here, what do I do?

Anticapitalista,

If I reinstall, do I have to format partition again and redo the install?

You shouldn't need to reformat the partition (assuming you did it correctly the first time)

Hi, Thanks anticapitalista.

I only saw your post now, but I did reformat it(easy and quick off a Live USB session though).

I then used command line installe again and the install even automatically activated my Swap partition for it.

Very impressed with antiX(and imagine my surprise when the laptop had sound when for the last 6 or so years it had been non existent...

Keep up the good work guys! __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__
