Subject: AntiX 13.2_386-full .iso & antiXlive file type isofs
Situation:
I have downloaded the subject files on the computer"M" that I want to burn the .iso cd in.
The .iso is going to be loaded in a older computer"E" other than the one I downloaded to burn the file(s?) in.
Question: I have two subject files (see Subject above), what is the purpose (sneak preview?) of the antixlive?
A. The AntiX 13.2_386-full .iso will be burned in its proper cd format and ran in another computer"M" and then installed in computer"E". Is this intent correct?
B. Can the antiXlive file type isofs be opened in computer"M" to see a demonstration of antiXlive 13.2?
1. If I open antiXlive file type isofs in computer"M" and it runs within virtual box (not sure if this is the right terminology?) does this opening and running the live program permanently load anything to my computer"M"?
2. Is the antiXlive file type isofs a demo test drive only and to be ignored and left out when burning the AntiX 13.2_386-full .iso cd in computer"M" for later installing it in computer"E"?
If you could address A. B. sub 1. 2. in that order along with any additional comments all or any part there of will be appreciated.
Thank You,
Bob
PS Maybe everyone is familiar with these files, but if not, it might be a good idea to state the intent of these files somewhere up front in download section of sourceforge?

I believe"antiXlive" is the *label* of the antiX 13.2_386-full.iso file. You can verify this by mounting the iso file and then running blkid (on Linux).
I think the system the OP is using lists information about the .iso file including the label and the type of filesystem (we call it"iso9960" on Linux but some other OS may call it"isofs"). So all that information pertains to just the antiX 13.2_386-full.iso file and nothing else.

Yes.A. The AntiX 13.2_386-full .iso will be burned in its proper cd format and ran in another computer"M" and then installed in computer"E". Is this intent correct?
Yes, if you use something like VirtualBox. We regularly boot .iso files directly in VirtualBox as part of our testing and development.B. Can the antiXlive file type isofs be opened in computer"M" to see a demonstration of antiXlive 13.2?
No. The only change you can make is if you install antiX inside of VirtualBox but this has no effect on the host machine (except using up some disk space).1. If I open antiXlive file type isofs in computer"M" and it runs within virtual box (not sure if this is the right terminology?) does this opening and running the live program permanently load anything to my computer"M"?
As I said above, I think you may have mistaken the description your OS provides of the single antiX 13.2_386-full.iso file.2. Is the antiXlive file type isofs a demo test drive only and to be ignored and left out when burning the AntiX 13.2_386-full .iso cd in computer"M" for later installing it in computer"E"?

? Previously, didn't the link lead to

You can
-- boot to antix LiveCD or LiveUSB and use it as a rescue disc
-- boot the Live media and run on a harddisk-less PC (for power savings)(to serve as a"kiosk" PC)("no trace" /"malware proof")
-- Live"sneak preview" ...AND any changes/tweaks you've performed during live sessions can be carried over to hard drive install
-- LiveCD +"toram" option: once booted, can eject the CD and (run diskless, or tweak the O/S then burn customized result using the CD-ROM drive, or...)
-- LiveUSB + persistence (my fave): kick yer spinning hard drives to the curb {just kidding} Psst, wearable computers are just around the bend...
I just noticed: on the sourceforge page, the link labeled"antiX-Linux Web Site" leads to a dead-end pagemight be a good idea to state the intent of these files somewhere up front in download section of sourceforge

suits many/varied purposes. Here are a few:what is the purpose (sneak preview?) of the antixlive?

If you are coming from BSD (isofs?), the concept of a live installable system is quite different to what you may be used to (have you heard of FreeSBIE?). On BSD you can go to a live terminal for system recovery work on your install media, on linux this has been developed much further into running a complete OS live without the need to install. With antiX (& some other distros) you can even remaster the original install media to something more specific to your own needs.

I probably need a little more information regarding The number 2. part of my original question? Regarding the antiXlive file. I believe BitJam answered this(part A. question"Yes") but I want to be a little more precise as to my understanding of the reply.
Is the antiXlive file a supplementary (bonus) type of file (and nice to have) but is not needed to be burned along within the AntiX 13.2_386-full .iso file in one cd/USB stick in order to place only antiX 13.2 on my hard drive?
My apologies in not making my question more succinct.
Thanks,
Bob

But this does not mean there is a file called"723517440 bytes". Nor is there a file called"file type isofs" nor even a file called"antiXlive". There is just one file: AntiX 13.2_386-full.iso. Everything else is just information about that one file.
It is not a file at all. It is the label of the AntiX 13.2_386-full.iso file. There is only one file. The other stuff is information about that file. For example your system might have also given you the size of the file and said:bobww99 wrote:Is the antiXlive file a supplementary (bonus) type of file [...]

723517440 bytes
