Dear ,
Apt-notifier show me updating for example 4 files ( true number I don`t know and names of files).I click to apt-notifier and start synaptic manager and see name of files. I dislike synaptic manager.
Then ctrl +alt +f4 and smxi .Smxi update 1 file another 3 files kept back.
Which is better and stable for updating smxi or synaptic manager?

There is no difference, it's just a matter of which you prefer. Both as simply ways of controlling apt.
For example I always simply type into a root terminal:
because its quicker that way and in fact I made a bash alias to make it even easier.

Code: Select all

Things sometimes get held back because a dependecy also needs updating but they haven't done that yet. It's no good if the update screw things up, is it.
Both smxi and synaptic should be stable. Use the one you prefer. When you set up smxi at first use it would have asked you if you wanted to usee dist-upgrade or just upgrade. Before you ask, upgrade is more stable than dist-upgrade, especially for new users. __{{emoticon}}__
Right, after some thought, the correct amswer should be, smxi set to"upgrade" iis the most stable.
