smxi didn't saw the version mismatch between transmission packages and wanted to update the trasmission-common and remove transmission trasmission-cli and transmission-gtk. hope you fix it. great script!

I saw this a while back and ended up just reinstalling it later on. This was a couple of weeks ago though. I wonder if it's happening again? I don't use it anyway.

I have posted a request on the smxi forum for the script to 'watch' this package.
To avoid things like this, I often do an
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
in a terminal to see if anything is going to be removed.
If it seems ok, then I continue or use smxi.

Use aptitude.
aptitude update
aptitude dist-upgrade (or upgrade if you have been using that)
Now the first option will remove transmission, type n.
The next option should say to keep transmission and dependencies hel/at older versio (ie present).
If that is the case, you can safely upgrade and keep transmission.

I just upgraded before hitting the sack and all is well with upgrading transmission, at least using the de (German) Debian repos.
