While I don't use Bleachbit. Maybe this will help.

I do use it. When running as root, just be a little more careful with your selections choices.
One of the best uses for bleachbit is when you are running antiX Live with root or home folder persistence from a flash drive, and possibly even for a frugal install too, if the persistence feature is set to write changes on shut-down or exit instead of writing directly to the drive. This greatly improves the life expectancy of the flash drive by limiting writes to only what is needed, or it can extend a heavy live session with persistence by freeing up used RAM memory if you're not ready to end the session just yet.
