Just the basic facts. I can't get AntiX 4.6, 4.4, and now Liqourix 3.16 to see my durn sd card slot, but it loads the driver.
I ran smxi to load up the liqourix kernel before I was going to post this thread. In case it was just a AntiX kernel bug.
But no change.

Here is command line info with the 3.16 kernel. I can reboot into my AntiX 4.6 kernel and post the same commands in my post for comparison.

The below dmesg.tar.gz is the 4.6 kernel readout.

Edit: Not a real big deal breaker for me. I have a SD external usb card reader that works OK for now.

Roky, the 2nd dmesg output shows that the controller is found but not the card:

Code: Select all

[ 1.340403] sdhci: Secure Digital Host Controller Interface driver
[ 1.340405] sdhci: Copyright(c) Pierre Ossman
[ 1.340626] sdhci-pci 0000:02:00.0: SDHCI controller found [1180:e822] (rev 7)
[ 1.344263] mmc0: SDHCI controller on PCI [0000:02:00.0] using DMA
The working dmesg output has something similar but four minutes after booting it detects an sdcard:

Code: Select all

[ 261.193924] mmc0: new high speed SDHC card at address 1234
[ 261.201864] mmcblk0: mmc0:1234 SA04G 3.68 GiB
[ 261.203260] mmcblk0: p1
[ 352.514106] mmc0: card 1234 removed
My guess is there may be a physical or electrical connection problem with the slot. Maybe some dust is preventing the card from being fully inserted or something is preventing a good electrical connection.

Maybe you can trying cleaning it out with *clean* compressed air or have a young-un try to take a peek inside.

Good idea. I never would have thought of that < good drugs __{{emoticon}}__ >. When I get off these crutches. I'll blow out the laptop.

Since it was bought off of ebay. No telling how dirty the internals are or if the sd slot is internally fubar.

Must be the drugs I am on. Facepalm moment and PBKAU all on my end in this thread.

I blew out the laptop with canned air. Looked at the SD card slot with a flashlight and magnifying glass. Everything looks good.
I was going to put the Windows 10 hard drive back in. But.

Being semi-cripple. I figured I'd boot my Carolina Puppy CD I had on the rack. Still a no show with the SD card in Puppy. Which usually picks up
any usb or sd drive card in it's file manager on most hard ware. At least in my experience.

Long story shortened. I had it turned off in bios. Bunches of stuff was turned off in bios in this laptop. Something I should have checked
before I started this thread. My Bad. I will edit my post here to say exactly where I went in bios. I cannot right now because I am on this laptop posting
that this is solved.

Edit: The bios settings menu as follows; Security>I/O Port Access> Memory Card Slot> Enabled

Spacefm now opens and auto mounts the sd card like I told it to in Icewm startup file with

Code: Select all

spacefm -d &
when I insert the sd card into the slot now. __{{emoticon}}__
