I installed compiz as third windowmanager in AntiX11 (together with lxpanel, because compiz doesn't bring a menu and panel by itself).
since activating compiz effects within gnome/KDE-distros always seemed to slow down the system considerably, I was surprised how nice and fast they work with AntiX.

however there is one problem I could'nt manage so far:
logging out from fluxbox/icewm gets me to slim, however if I do that in compiz it doesn't work.
looking up the logouthelper.sh I saw the reason why: only icewm and fluxbox get killed there,
so I added a line with"killall compiz".

logging out now kills compiz, however it still doesn't bring me to slim.
right-clicking the compiz-icon to"select window-manager" doesn`t help either.

Does anybody have an idea for a clean logout to slim in compiz or a smooth switch to fluxbox/icewm?

thanks for any suggestions!

I am not entirely sure how to solve this, I have never used compiz as a stand alone.

is a forum link making some suggestions, it may be of help. I use compiz with lxde and therefor the lxde-logout application, this works just fine for me it may be something worth looking into.

no, none of the tipps worked out for me, still not able to get back to slim.

on the other hand ... compiz IS working, it`s a nice toy to play around with,
but for everyday use I prefer fluxbox and icewm anyway.

if somebody comes up with a good idea, just let me know, but no urgency

hello kernelpanic,

I've had a similar problemupon trying to log out of KDE sessions. Ultimately, I had to use a different login manager, KDM instead of SLIM.

The alternate suggestion was to type"halt" or"reboot", then (enter) then give root password (enter) to back to the login screen.

Here is the thread: post15258.html#p15258
