Edit: It dissappeared after I did an upgrade on 15, then when I installed 16, I went with all the defaults.

there is also an issue that volumeicon will not launch under certain alsa conditions. the easiest is when the default sound card is other than expected. there is also a case where oss-compat needs to be uninstalled, but i don't think its installed in antix-16 anyway.

Sorry for not getting back sooner, volumeicon will launch & work if I start it in a terminal, but won't if I put a '&' after it, it hangs in the terminal, then when I close the terminal, it disappears again.

Tried putting it into .bashrc, .fluxbox/startup, & .profile - no joy.
Tried Control Centre > Session > startup - no joy.

The only way that I can get it to run is to start it using menu > run, but then it has to be restarted the next time again.
