I'm using antix 13.2"testing". VLC will not install:

"The following packages have unmet dependencies:
vlc-nox : Depends: libgnutls-deb0-28 (>= 3.2.10-0) but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages."

My repos:

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy non-free contrib main
deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates non-free contrib main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy non-free contrib main
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy-backports non-free contrib main
deb http://antix.daveserver.info/stable/ stable main
deb http://antix.daveserver.info/testing/ testing main
Any suggestions, or should I just do like we do around here when we don't like the weather - just wait a cpl. days?

Thanks

is a report of a similar problem of missing versions of libgnutls along with a workaround. I doubt the"ln -s" will work for you though. I think you would need to create a libgnutls.so.28 link to an existing libguntils.so.* file that you installed. This sort of workaround can cause problems down the road. At best it should be considered a temporary fix.

I think the problem you are having is related to a

You are actually using Wheezy stable repos.

He's actually using both daveservers though.

They all need to be testing, or all stable, not mixed up wildstar84.

Thanks, Alanarchy, I thought I needed both in case something was in stable but not in testing for some reason. I keep encountering problems, such as yesterday's testing upgrade completely broke Chromium for me. I resolved both that and this issue by unchecking all the"testing" repos and just sticking for now with the"stable" ones (too mamy broken upgrades / dependency hell). I avoid"sid" for those reasons, but thought"testing" was somewhat more"stable", but apparantly not. Oh the other hand, maybe that could've been the pbm - having both"wheezy" and"testing" checked at same time? I've been a Linux abUser for yearz but there's still so much I seem to still be a newbe at, particularly since everything's a'changin' so fast these days.

Thanks to this thread I solved a similar problem I came across when trying to install Gimp, I had both 'testing' and 'wheezy' repos enabled in multimedia for some reason, corrected it to only 'wheezy' and all was well.

Thank you!
