Moved thread from tips and tricks and inserted into new users so it can get the attention it deserves.
Howdy and Welcome from the scooter tramp here.
Not technical? Having a hard time? Well. Watch Dolphins videos and you will become a expert in no time.

I don't know off hand the exact clip to point you to. But I know dolphin_oracle covered default programs in one video I watched long ago.
Hint: antix control center > preferred applications.
Edit: don't ignore the AntiX 13 or MX videos either. They all have relevance across the board on all of our releases.
What one video may not cover. Another will. Our distro is somewhat similar across release versions. We do not change
things real drastic like other distros. Our changes deal mostly with ease of use for folks like you. __{{emoticon}}__

not sure I correctly understand your meaning of"replace", but try this:
-- in desktop menu, click"Control Centre"
-- click the ControlCentre"Preferred Applications" launcher (has a cog/gear icon)
Here you can choose (in other words, choose to 'replace' the currently selected) default image viewer, default media player, etc.
here's a relevant video link (jumps to 6:10 inside the video)
