Very nice work indeed, must be retired or unemployed to devote that much time! Seriously, a really unusual approach with a beautiful result.

Lifehacker has been showing really beautiful or unusual desktops for awhile now, and they show Win, Mac, and Linux. The first article they did on conky and what all of you posted here is what helped me to do my conky. If I had more time, I'd make mine that cool too, but I still have to find a block of time to convert my desktop to Mepis 8, so that won't happen for awhile.
