Hi,

I have tried to use qemu to view antix biut I keep getting video problem.
Also I found a link that told me how to boot the .iso from a seperate hardrive partition. But when I attempt it I get a compression error. I downloaded the antix from a location on the web site. I would like to install antx to a harddrive partition. I do not have access to a cd/dvd writer. Thanks.

nwtntx, I am VERY rusty on booting from an .iso on another partition. Here is a link to a tutorial on how to do this the old fashion way, by getting the needed Linux kernel, and an initial root file system in place.

I have not used qemu, but I thought it was a machine emulator and virtualizer. Are you trying to install antix inside another host operating system like Windows? I use Sun's VirtualBox to host a linux virtual machine with antix on one of my Windows machines. I find it pretty straight forward.

One thing I have not tried, but looks VERY useful is UNetbootin.
"UNetbootin allows you to create bootable Live USB drives for Ubuntu, Fedora, and other Linux distributions without burning a CD. It runs on both Windows and Linux. You can either let UNetbootin download one of the many distributions supported out-of-the-box for you, or supply your own Linux .iso file if you've already downloaded one or your preferred distribution isn't on the list."
The antix live cd has an option to make a usb drive bootable and persistent. If you have a usb thumb drive that could boot to a live antix, you could use it to boot the machine and install antix. But as you have no access to a cd drive, Unetbootin might do this for you. After you had it installed to the usb drive, you could then use it to boot the machine like a live cd and install it to the hard drives, assuming you have a large enough usb drive laying around.

I tried to boot antiX fromiso with GRUB2 but never succeeded. The last time I got a kernel panic because of the VFS (virtual file system) but didn't insist on that. The sidux guys have work done on that but then the antiX iso maybe would have to follow their way of doing things to work.

The instruction for
