Hello. I want to install pypanel; however, I am unable to do so since there is a conflict with python. (pypanel doesn't seem to be in stable, but I am trying to install a .deb package that I found.) After discovering the python conflict - using gdebi to install pypanel - I checked synaptic. According to synaptic, I have 3 versions of python installed: 2.5.2-3, 2.5.2-15, and 2.5.2-15minimal. So this is probably the problem. I'm guessing that I remove the oldest version, but if I do, is there anything else that I may need to do such as cleanup? Thanks.

What version of python does it want? It may just be a supporting app it needs like a -dev.
