I have a new install of Jayaben Desai that I'm trying to upgrade.
Here are the errors:
Errors were encountered while processing:

/var/cache/apt/archives/python-urwid_0.9.9.1-1+b1_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I have complete output, but it is rather lengthy __{{emoticon}}__
I got the same errors with synaptic, apt-get update/upgrade, and also apt-get dist-upgrade.
I even tried apt-get check, apt-get clean, apt-get autoclean, but nothing helps.
What now?
thanks

try apt-get -f install to force install each package that didn't get installed, then apt-get upgrade, keep doing that until there are no more errors.

Tried that, same errors __{{emoticon}}__
When I can get back on that system, I'll upload the complete error file.
Rather lengthy, so if I can't upload it here, I'll post it elsewhere.
Thanks!

Zip it up before uploading. Easier to upload. I do that with apt-get dist-upgrade readouts that are long and lengthy readouts.

Well, I seem to be having a lot of problems with different things, so I'm beginning to think I have a bad install.
I've used Debian for years, so I'm no novice, but something is really messed up.
Fonts aren't found, config files aren't found/read, RoxTerm loads with errors, etc.
I'm going to start over since this was a new install anyway.
I'll report how the new install goes or if the cd burn was bad

anticapitalista, I have tried that two different times __{{emoticon}}__
I'm about to shutdown the machine and re-install. Too many other problems as mentioned above.

Sorry, I just noticed you had tried. I agree that maybe the install is the problem.

You could try to purge python-support and then reinstall it, or download the python-support deb and install it, try to force it if it doesn't work. Python-support contains python-modules. If that doesn't work, you could just wait and upgrade at a later time. Do you use python a lot?
You should probably leave X when you're doing a system upgrade. That's what's advised when doing upgrades. Don't do upgrades in synaptic.

buttcoffee, thanks. I didn't make myself clear enough with first post.
I tried upgrading with console login. I was doing"apt-get update" and"apt-get upgrade" and then tried"apt-get dist-upgrade".
Actually tried upgrading via apt-get in console and also used synaptic in X using reload, mark updates, apply.
Anyway, tried re-installing and pretty much had same problems, so the cd may be bad.
Since I'm on a friends internet connection (dsl), I'll have to wait and download another copy and try later.
If I decide to play with the"new" installation, I'll wait till the other family is off the internet, so I won't be slowing them down. They're letting me on free via wifi, so I sure don't want to make them mad at me __{{emoticon}}__
Thanks for all the help/ideas.

Hope the next install works better. FWIW I did a fresh install of antiX-M11-686 and dist-upgrade only had the issue here:
