The system: Acer Aspire One.
The Printer: HP Photosmart C6150
M8 Public test installed with no problems. Wireless works perfectly, however the Wifi LED doesn't work, but I think I have a fix for that, will update later...

The problem: Can't create a printer through the System Control Panel. I get"Cups is not installed in the usual place" error. Ok, I tried installing the printer through cups. No deal. Cups creates the printer but will not even print a test page.

Solution:
Removed cups completely. Reinstalled cups through apt-get. Also installed Hplip through apt-get.

After reinstalling I was able to install the printer and print.

Just a heads-up. Not sure why I had to reinstall, but that seemed to work.

Mark.

don't know if you're aware of it, but you can install hp through the metainstaller, if you are using icewm then antiX> System> Tools> Meta installer, you may have to enter your root password, then on the meta installer menu> click on the office arrow, will jump from a side pointing arrow to a down arrow and choose Hp_printing, it is one of h2's scripts and it works like a charm, there is a bug though(with the hp pkg, not antiX), after you install the hp metapackage, then on the cli type:

LC_MESSAGES=en_US.UTF8 LC_ALL=en_US.UTF8 hp-toolbox (be sure to replace the en_US with your own locale)
and you will be able to install your hp printer along with the hp-tools, this fix was on bugzilla found by Siles on ML
