Tried MX14 on my old presario 2100 Everything worked except shutdown does not power down system. antix 13.2 works great on same machine so i suspect it's a kernel issue. I like the look of MX14 but will probably go with Antix 13.5 since 13.2 is pretty stable on the laptop and icewm-rox let it run pretty darn quick.

Did you use the pae or non-pae version of MX-14?

Does it shutdown correctly if you type sudo halt in a terminal?

Are you running live or installed?

PAE, i was installed but it also occured live. antix 13.2 is back on the laptop so I will boot off a live cd again and try sudo halt in terminal and let you know.

BTW ANtix has always been the best OS on the old 2100 so thanks for all the hard work.

This symptom can be caused by an invalid hostname. See

O.K> I rebooted live and It shut down O.K. so i re-installed making sure to use lower case letters for my workgroup per the above post and Bing! it works now. I still prefer antix 13.2 on the laptop tho but MX14 is going onan old dell desktop.
