I would like to play DVD movies on my laptop with antiX. The DVD's work fine on Windows 7 (same laptop), but don't work at all with antiX. Do I need to download or install something for that? Is there an application in Synaptic Package Manager for that, and if so, what is the name I should look for? If I have to download from the internet, I'd like step-by-step instructions if it's going to be difficult.
The laptop is and older one, a Dell Latitude E6400.
Thanks for any advice!

You just have to configure gnome-mplayer. This might help.

Hit enter. Lots of solved threads using that search.

Yes, mplayer, or any derivative of mplayer, such as gmplayer and smplayer, do a good job of playing video and movie content.

You may need to add drivers or codecs on certain systems. If you do not already have libdvdread3 installed, make sure it is installed and usually a DVD will play once the necessary libraries are configured.

Use the metapackage installer app in the control centre to install the codecs.
