Hello,
I post here, hope it's ok.
I just installed the latest Antix 17 rc3 to give it a spin.
So far so good, just two commentaries.
When loading a video with smtube, the video player doesn't work, cant load page.
Also, I'd rather have Links compiled with java enabled.
By the way, how about the latest Luakit-develop as lightweight browser?
It's ultra fast, full-featured and on Debian it really rocks.
Nice work, gonna use it more these days.

Howdy and Welcome.
Can you post a
report so members here can see your install? Also. Have you ran smtube in terminal to see what error messages are spat out? Was a md5sum check done of your downloaded AntiX iso before a install.
Somebody else will have to reply on the Java comment you made. I am on AntiX 15 myself . If you wanna poke around .
antix control center > system > edit config files
Gives you a good idea on what is what in our distro. Use full screen to see everything.

As for Links, Java support needs to be included in the configuration, before compiling it, then it would appear in the pull down menu.
It is not the default option, but I just thought it would be nice to have it included.

There is no compile-time option for Java in Links. There is an old JavaScript option but it doesn't work and is no longer supported.black-clover wrote:As for Links, Java support needs to be included in the configuration, before compiling it, then it would appear in the pull down menu.

Yes, Javascript is no longer supported, but possible, or at least so it seems form this info:

Unfortunately, browsing without Java is very limited.
That's why I use Luakit as my main lightweight browser.

Java and JavaScript are two different things. They are both computer languages than can be used in a browser. If you mean JavaScript, please don't say"Java". Yes, the devs left hooks in for adding JavaScript support in case someone wanted to try to resurrect it some day. The existing code is buggy and extremely outdated. Yes, there is a compile-time option but no one uses it because it doesn't work. The JavaScript code is broken and outdated.
If this something you want to take on yourself, that's great! I suggest you try to link in an existing JavaScript engine like node.js rather than try to fix the broken and outdated code in links.
