Came across this and thought I'd share it.

For those that have been on the receiving end of 'police operations' on demonstartions, enjoy!

I really wish this warning will become reality:
" 2011 was a warm-up."

While i am rather a lamer (and anything but a hero), my main interest in software now relates to activist stuff: freedombox, i2p, retroshare, gpg, etc. dyne:bolic looks like a good project too. I regulary visit we.riseup.net (but it is not very active, it seems. I will store the picture there).

nadir - internet activism is fine and dandy (as they say). However, the real 'fight' is outside the realm of technology, it is in our communities, workplaces, schools, colleges etc. As an example. The Pirate party has recently been set up here in Greece and is standing in the elections for May 6. On issues of open source, internet freedom etc thay say the right things, but on the big issue here of the UE/IMF imposed memorandum, they are quiet and vaguely call for more 'democracy' within the existing institutions. Not very radical at all.

2011 really was a warm up. 2012 and maybe even more so 2013 will see fireworks all over Europe and the world. Our time is coming!

What shall i say? Yeah, you are right. Sure.
But here, in Germany, there is not much political activism at all (say compared to France).
The good news: you convinced me, and i will do the best and old dog can to get my ass up at the 1 of May
(i already got invited by friend, so it should work).

This, from the Economist, is a good overview of the role of the internet in activism:

The People’s Assembly against austerity is a fantastic opportunity to build a movement from below, but it can’t be your standard top table affair, says Mark Booth.
