This is pekwm and antix with the tint2 panel. Pekwm doesn't come with a panel, so you gotta add whichever panel you prefer. I didn't really do anything to tint2 except add launchers.

I guess it probably doesn't really look any different from openbox and others. Pekwm isn't based on blackbox, but aewm++, apparently.

Looks nice and simple. Isn't PekWM a tiling WM?

No, pekwm is a stacking WM like fluxbox, icewm, and openbox. I prefer it over openbox and fluxbox because it's way easier to configure. I'm not a computer wizard and I'm lazy, so i don't have much tolerance to dick around with openbox and fluxbox and that xml stuff. Well, I can't say fluxbox because I've never really played around with it because I just don't like it. Fluxbox's little panel bar seemed much to time consuming to get rid of. The fluxbox panel annoyed me a great deal, for some reason.

Sorry I'm a bit wordy.

Think there's a version of Fluxbox with the panel bar removed called HackedBox and looks like it isn't maintained anymore

All I had to do was empty/delete the text in the ~/.fluxbox/slitlist text file. I run Fluxbox with Lxpanel (default is autohide) and wbar on mine. Slit never comes up. This is M/C shop Desktop.

@lagopus. If you're reading this. The sound effects in snapshot-.0.0.1 are cool. But the resize feature (wrench in taskbar) I set to 640X480 (check mark the box) and then hit apply and then take a full Desktop screen shot still gives me a 1024x768 screen shot. I had to resize this one in Gimp from the folder in ~/Snapshots.

Ohh so it IS possible to remove or at least disable the taskbar and the Slit in Fluxbox. I might even take a look at this as Flux is quite stable and solid and JWM's still maturing (but fairly solid).

Nice wallpaper BTW...me likey!

How did you get wbar fully transparent? Seems it is not easy to make wbar 100% transparent and allow windows to cover it when maximized. That arrangement of lxpanel and wbar makes your desktop so Mac OSX-like which is appealing.

you can also disable or at least permanently hide the flux toolbar by right clicking the toolbar and unchecking"visible". or by editing the following line in the .fluxbox/init file

session.screen0.toolbar.visible: true (change true to false)

Thanks. I didn't even know the thing had a name. Do you mean just blank the file or delete it all together? Whenever i delete config files like that they usually reappear after I run the program again. __{{emoticon}}__

Hackedbox is supposedly based on blackbox I've never used blackbox either, but it appears to have the little panel thingy.

Yes. I leave the file in place with nothing in it.

For lagopus. I just tested new snapshot.py in AntiX 11 base iso. Resize to 640x480 is working .The long lens camera in wbar is your snapshot application launcher I made.

Can you do the same for the Slit?

Once disabled/hidden can an lxpanel take the place of the Flux toolbar?

Slit and toolbar are same same in Fluxbox. That is what D.O. probably meant.

I have done what D.O. posted and yes it works as advertised. I just deleted the ~/.fluxbox/slit text because of other issues I had with slit when testing new wallpaper changer for Dave on that box. It was a hack and burn fix for me dealing with slit. Doing as D.O. suggests will work just fine with LXpanel and Wbar.

Here's an updated screenshot, nothing is all that different except cconky displays some somewhat useful info and the current weather. I did get tint2 to display the volume icon changer thing and battery life. to get the tint2 volumeicon to appear, just go here
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://softwarebakery.com/maato/volumeicon.html"
linktext was:"http://softwarebakery.com/maato/volumeicon.html"
====================================
and then add it to the startup script for which window manager you use

Here's my tint2 config, it's almost the default, but with some small things changed. I still need to figure out to setup the 'show desktop' thingy properly

Just to clarify, the slit and the toolbar are not the same. However, you cannot see the slit unless you have a slit-enabled app docked in it. in the old days, windowmaker apps were common on fluxbox setups. they look like little boxes. I used to use some volume control apps and a mounter app that worked pretty cool. The slit is not the same as the system tray either. The slit is one of those things that makes fluxbox unique (along with tabbed and groupable windows), but unfortunately its not used for much anymore. The system tray is more universal.
