Hello everyone,
I ve been using antix for the last month or so and i am very happy with it(even though i dont have a specifications problem,i could run windows as easy, but i prefer now antix with all the nice (and fast) applications it includes.
So i made the decision to install it on all my laptops (3).It went all easy with the Asus 900 and an old HP laptop.
I am now trying to install on a Sony Vaio (VGN-FS315S),wich has already Windows XP istalled on the primary partition.
So i tried to resize the second D) drive (which is nbot a physical second drive, only a different partition on the same 100 GB HDD.)I tried GParted through the Antix installer(at the step that asks for partition, and has the option to select partition, and opens the partitioning app, instead of using the ful HDD).I got a couple of times an error ,and the partitioning was not completed,(canceled actually ).
So after all this rabbiting on,here is my request.. __{{emoticon}}__
I d appreciate if anbyone could post the specific steps i can follow to do this task,as all my searches did not came up with something that i could follow.
I also tried to repartition from windows XP ,with the HDD administrative tool, but i did not have any better luck there either.
So is there a way to install antix on this HDD(as described above),or do i need to have a primary partition(whatever that means, you see i am not proficient in Linux, just started with CS:):)
So once again,i want Windows XP to remain and dual boot antix on this drive. Is it possible to do such installation? If it is ,what partition do i need to make, and can i somehow change size of the partition that holds Data for windows, and"steal" a few GB to use with antix??PLease help!!
Thank you for your patience and in advance for any help (which i am sure i will find __{{emoticon}}__ :))
Best regards

partitioning for mx is exactly the same as for antiX.

For new Windows 10 box I used the Windows system to resize (not repartition!) first. This left half the drive empty for Linux. AntiX took it from there.

I'd like to remove it entirely but sometimes have to use Windows to check code.

I m in a similar position, well ,almosty,i am still using winXP on this vaio ,but with only 2.1 CPU its not working well ,even with XP.Antix made me live again!!:):)
And i tried to do this with the disk manager from windows (i did it in my 2 other installations) but it seems sony has some funny idiosynchracies .. __{{emoticon}}__ :)
For today i ve given up,(after 12 hours ) ,i ll start fresh tomorrow morning and i ll let the forum know how it went:)
Anyways thanks for the input,to all who contributed to my question!!
Best regards!
