Hello. I tried to install the nvidia driver: I enabled the mepis repos and then used the mepis module to install it. Unfortunately, I could not log in. So I loaded the 7.2 livecd and used the"copy current xorg.conf" option. When I tried to reboot, I got an error - /etc/X11/X not executable. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'd try dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and see what happens. Or use smxi to install a new xorg or nvidia driver.

I never had good luck with the mepis x module to install nvidia. I always downloaded the driver direct from nvidia and installed it myself. Now the smxi script should take care of it.

For direct driver install, you can use sgfxi, the smxi graphics driver script engine.

Type in: sgfxi -h
If something happens, it's installed. See the options.

If not, as root, do: cd /usr/local/bin; wget techpatterns.com/smxi.zip;unzip smxi.zip; sgfxi
