My old Dell Inspiron 8000 runs now fine thanks to antiX. However, the soundcard is not working. I tried to fix it with alsaconf, but it did not help. It did not find suitable driver. What to do?

What sound card do you have?
inxi -A

I got the sound card working following the advice in debian wiki! (

). In one point I was a little bit hesitant to continue: installing alsa-base, alsa-utils and build-essential demanded to remove about 50 packages. Yet it seems that the system runs fine without them.
Thanks a lot again!

You have to go to antiX control center, hardware, configure sound system, run the alsa configuration, you just have to enter okay to all questions, the alsa configuration utility will configure your sound, it worked for me!
Very Important!: Remember that after runing the alsa configuration, you must have to raise the master volume control to 100%!
