Hi,
does anyone have a clue, why I don't have sound in an old Pentium M 1.4gh (IBM thinkpad R40)? It used to work in previous M8 version. When I try to configure sound, it informs me about no driver for sound, not even legacy.
Thanks in advance.

We will need a
readout to see what soundchip you are using. I am not a sound guru with alsa so much. I have to plod my way through finding/searching for the right commands for giving alsa readouts.
Edit: it just occurred to me. Why are you running the i486 on a R60 when my IBM A22M can run i686?
2nd Edit: Digging around. I read this at mepis forums

So I am starting to wonder if you did a md5sum check of downloaded iso before burning or if you had a bad burn.
Code: Select all
inxi -F

Since AntiX 11 and Mepis 11 use the same kernel. Your sound should work out of the box also.Post # 274557
Mepis 11 - Fab!
Just installed Mepis 11
It's fantastic. Something you should all be proud of!
I think I'll probably leave it on my R61 as my main stable distro.
FYI: Everything works OOTB
So I am starting to wonder if you did a md5sum check of downloaded iso before burning or if you had a bad burn.
