So I'm testing antiX and all I got to say is wow, this is the distro I was looking for my not so powerful laptop. Everything works fine except some issues with the wireless.
My laptop has a BCM4318 card and it didn't load the drivers at boot. I checked the control panel and I checked"Load b43 drivers at boot". Rebooted my laptop and nothing. Then I used a console configuration tool(I think it's called ceni) and my interface was there, I followed the steps connected to my network and voila I got wireless.
My question is, do I have to this everytime I boot into my laptop or is there a way to get wireless autoloaded? I noticed there is Wicd but it doesn't start at boot.
Thanks for your time, and congrats to the antiX team, it's really a superb little distro __{{emoticon}}__ .

Hello Roku and welcome to Antix!
I use wicd all the time and it does start at boot, but you need to configure it so that it automatically connects to your preferred wireless connection at start up. It's very easy to set up and it's very reliable. I recommend you try it.
In wicd, click on the network you want to connect to, click on autoconnect, click on advanced settings to fill in your WPA/WEP info.
I hope this works for you. Good luck!!

I'm checking out wicd and it recognized my card and access point, thanks for the advice Pedro.
I have another issue, decided not make a thread about it and post it here. Is there a way to monitor battery life in IceWM? I check the configs and there seems to be an option for it TaskBarShowAPMStatus=0. Changed it to 1 and all I get is a black box in my taskbar where I assume the display should be. I installed acpi and acpitools to see if that would fix it but no. At least I can check it with my terminal now but it would be nice to have it on the taskbar.

Taskbar, I don't know, but you can have conky print out the battery info. I'm not in antix right now, so I can't check, but check the conky config file and different threads in the forum and you'll probably find out how to do it. It's very easy.
I hope this helps.

I use icewm a lot. But I don't like icewm's battery monitor. I add the battery option in conky instead. In the conky file there is a small list of options. You'll see a battery option there. Also see this thread:

I have a similar problem to the OP. UP until the recent upgrade/Dist-upgrade WiFi worked fine. Now however, everytime i boot up, i have to manually set the wifi using the CP (wicd?) I've checked the Startup Services & wicd is set to"On" at boot time, but still doesn't make any difference. Anyone have any ideas or similar probs?
** EDiT ** - Removed wicd (apt-get purge wicd) then reinstalled (apt-get install wicd) and now it all works as it should!! __{{emoticon}}__ Many thanks to oldhoghead for jogging the grey matter & pointing me in the right direction.
