Hi guys,

Nice to meet you all.

I totally got rid of xp and now antix is the only OS on my computer. I know I have to take the pros and cons with that decision, such as things that are no longer possible and things that will improve (like load times).

I hope one or some amongst you would be kind enough to answer some questions.

1) How do I donate to antix? Not saying I have a great amount of money, but the little I have I can give some once or regularly.

2) I've got a windows mobile phone (wp8, nokia lumia). I've searched and found now clear way of connecting it to browse the phone files or its sd card without removing it and using a memory card reader. Could anyone point me to instructions known to work?

3) I tried to install a dictionary in antix called wordnet. I followed the guidance in runwiththedolphin's videos, but neither the program or the gui appear in the application menu and they don't run from the run command. This happened before with another thing I tried installing. Even reboots didn't help. Can anyone help with that one?

4) when I change desktops from rox to space fm, I lose the helpful system details on the top right hand corner. Is there any way of keeping that?

5) when I change from rox to space fm desktop and reboot, the change doesn't stick. Is there any way to do this? Please tell me what that is.

There'll be more questions, I'm sure. I hope you don't mind. And thanx for antix!

Greetings.

about this sort of thing over on the Mepis forums. That might be a good place to start even if the solutions are not identical.

That is called"Conky". Try turning it back on from the desktop menu --> Desktop -->"Toggle Conky on/off".

Try running the update-default-desktop program.

Howdy and Welcome. For your queries to make it easier to find on google or the internet.

Please make separate threads for each issue with a appropriate title to make it easy to find on the net to search for.

Like

"Install a dictionary in antix" with exact details on what was tried and any error messages terminal gives when you ran the program in terminal.

As far as donations go.

but I kinda wish Dave (our member here) would get some dough for his server help with our personal repo.

Just my opinion though. I know Bitjam and Anti aint rich either.

So Howdy and Welcome again from this scooter tramp and hope you don't get offended by my biker ways. __{{emoticon}}__

I support the suggestion from rokytnji to break down your questions into one question per topic. It makes it much easier for others to chip in with advice and you will probably get you to the resolution more quickly.

Thanks for all your responses, guys. I hope no one feels offended or as if I ignored the responses given already if i repost my questions separately and with more detail.

Thanks for the advice guys. New questions coming up. I think I should create a signature with my system information on it too.

Welcome and howdy!

Yes, it is better to ask one question at a time unless they are directly related. I know it is hard to see on some systems, but there is a SEARCH request on this page at the top. Search the various treads for your topic.

Let us know what type of computer you have. Many of us have older models (or in my case a JUNKBOX made from parts of many computers). I'm sure somebody knows the ins-and-outs of your computer.

Hey Eino,

Where can I get this respin from? Or do I just install stuff in the antix that I have? I'm generally used just audacity in the past (i'm not into midi stuff yet, a bit behind the times).

And that music track you shared, was that all created by typing it into a computer, or did you play it straight on a keyboard?

Played straight from my portable grand piano, with a midi interface.
You can also write music, and midi files using nted.
This is where you can get it from.

Hmmm ... now I need to find a spare CD or see if I can find an old 4x speed CD-RW I may have lying around.

Just to ask, why is your iso about 20-30MB smaller than the normal antix? Was there anything left out?

no office programs, or games. Just music software.
