Testers needed for latest 3.3.21antiX kernel.
Just like the last antiX kernel, could those with PI or K5/k6 AMD test to see if it boots.
Ignore 'errors' about symbolic link. They are just non-fatal warnings.
Comments welcome.

This 3.3.1 kernel boots OK on K6/266MHz and on P200MMX.
( I used -M11-base on a 2.8Gig HDD, 'cause it was there.)

I believe that I now have the latest kernel, but tell me for sure: I explicitly downloaded the antiX 3.3.0 kernel shortly after it was announced, found it to work fine, and eventually removed the 3.2.9 kernel that I had previously been using. Last night, I did an apt-get dist-upgrade, and it pulled in several antiX tools and it sure looked like it changed the kernel. If that's the right one, I was using it yesterday and it was working smoothly with no detected issues.
I'll get an inxi update in here later when I am actually on that system, and we can be 100% certain of what I am running; meanwhile, I know that the first 3.3.0 kernel worked flawlessly for me, and I have reason to believe that the updated kernel also works well for me, but I will follow up and verify this, so that we have another reliable data point, with hardware specs cited.

I'm gonna snag this 3.3.1 kernel for my antiX core system, too, and give it a good look.

Here is what I have right now on my antiX core system, and it's the same hardware where I am running antiX base; I will explicitly have the 3.3.1 kernel on both shortly, so if there is nothing to add, it works in BOTH places, as did 3.2.9 and 3.3.0 (and the Liquorix kernel that I am using at the moment):

I got the following when I installed the image by hand:

That tells me that the packaging could be a bit cleaner than it is at the present time. I'll try out the kernel now; it did appear to install OK, according to the GRUB update; using it will tell us for certain.

Well, I am back here with antiX core and the aforementioned kernel, so debug messages notwithstanding, it's working fine here.
So another thumbs up to the antiX 3.3.1 kernel! Good job!

Here now with antiX base 12.0 Test 2, with the new kernel, so I have now verified that it works with both base and core:
I am using my own copy of the Seamonkey Web browser, and I am also using Xfce in place of the default WM. Running with just IceWM and Conky, this setup uses a measly 41.4 MB! Impressive and it's still impressive with both Xfce and Seamonkey, consuming few enough resources that if I were to attempt to use even this setup on a system with only 256 MB of memory, it would work with only very mild swapping!

Yes that is a bitter orange anti....
This kernel works perfectly. About the only thing that would be cool is a little"Tux" graphic right at the beginning of the boot like the liquorix kernel has. (Yes, I think about things way too much)anticapitalista wrote:Testers needed for latest 3.3.21antiX kernel.

Sure, afab4, a nice Tux image (with a sweet tasting orange perhaps!) might be nice, but we have a great system already, that's for sure! Ran both antiX core and antiX base for several hours yesterday and did not encounter any issues at all, other than the messages I received as I was initially installing the kernel; we may want to clean that up before release.

You are so right about having a great system with antiX!
The graphic is a little tongue in cheek reference to the bitter oranges that demonstrators were throwing during the protests in Greece.
Way too much time on my hands....

I am not up on the news in Greece, but that seems like a good logo for anti, given his political interests! __{{emoticon}}__

Maybe Tux should have a molotov in his hand __{{emoticon}}__
Where would the image go? If I can fix it, I like the idea (Tux with oranges in cool, Tux with a molotov would probably get me arrested).
The errors when installing the kernel refer to a bug in dkms. There are lots of references in a search. No solutions though.

Damentz (author of the Liquorix kernel) may be a good person to ask that question; can't say, without quite a bit of research, that I could directly answer that question. Perhaps Dave has enough background and experience to figure that out, too.anticapitalista wrote:Maybe Tux should have a molotov in his hand __{{emoticon}}__

Here is some info from the Gentoo Wiki on how to put the Tux graphic into your kernel.anticapitalista wrote: Where would the image go? If I can fix it, I like the idea .
