I am trying hard to connect to my network printer. can someone help
The printer is an HP deskjet 9460 Host name HP04B9E1 on IP 192.168.1.10
Do I use cups /ipp or HPDirect and how do I set the network as I don't see an option for TCP/IP etc.
what would the url be i.e
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://192.168.1.10"
linktext was:"http://192.168.1.10"
====================================
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false or ipp:// or under HPDirect the Hostname.
I can't get it to work whereas under Ubuntu it was recognised.
Many thanks jeff
incidentally what is the best antiX 7.5 FAQ listing?

jeffjohn, you'll probably need to install some extre hp printing stuff then it should auto-detect the printer.
This is from the FAQ. (scroll down to printing)

One thing to check is that your in the same network range as the printer. If the printer is 192.168.1.10 then you must be 192.168.1.xxx as well. Some routers default to 192.168.0.1.

You should set up your hp printer using hp tools, and not cups.
Install the packages in anti's post and then follow this thread from mepislovers:

You can access the hp install gui (HP Toolbox) from a terminal with hp-toolbox; if that doesn't work to find your printer, you can try hp-setup as root.
In Mepis 7, Hp Toolbox can't see the network printer until I disable guarddog, but in antiX, it saw the printer without doing anything to the firewall settings.

The app I have had the best luck in setting up printers is system-config-printers. It will find local and remote printers.
