Hi folks. Antix is running well on my parents machine. I just need to install the locale for Ireland. The Meta Installer only shows locales I don't need.
Does anyone know how I can go about this? I'm thinking there' might be a repository I can use but I'd need a little help there. Haven't used the command line in years and I'm rusty.

In a terminal you need to run as root
dpkg-reconfigure locales
and make sure the ones for Ireland are chosen (Gaelic is ga_IE.UTF-8 and Irish English is en_IE.UTF-8)
Select it for default.
Now if you want to set the computer to default the language you have chosen above, you need to add this line to /etc/profile (eg Gaelic)
export LANG=ga_IE.UTF-8
and add this to /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Option"XkbLayout""us,ie"
Option"XKbOptions""grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"
Logout/login and then as user in a terminal for icewm, or as root in a terminal for fluxbox
update-menus
Logout/login
Now the menu of apps that support Gaelic will be in Gaelic.
Added:
For the browser to have Irish/gaelic support, search for iceweasel ga in synaptic and install iceweasel-l10n-ga-ie

is this already in the preferences file? If so, i couldn't find it. How about a line # if it is? (I'd like to use it in the next release). If it's not in the file, then where would be a logical place to insert it?
Thanks.

Thank you so much, those instructions are running in a terminal as I write this.
Anticapitalista, are you Greek? My sister lived in Greece for about five years and I stayed with her for quite a while from time to time. She started work in Athens but moved to Syros, Zakintos (?) and Lutraki (excuse my spelling!)
